Ingredients

  • 2–3 lbs sausage (Polish kielbasa, smoked sausage, beef sausage, or turkey sausage)
  • 2 cups BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)

  • ¼ cup light brown sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C / Gas Mark 4).
  • Slice the sausage into ½-inch rounds.
  • In a large bowl, combine the BBQ sauce and liquid smoke. Add the sliced sausage and toss until fully coated.
  • Transfer the sausage mixture to a 9x13 baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the light brown sugar evenly over the top.
  • Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbling and sticky and the top has caramelized.
  • Remove from the oven and serve immediately over rice, with cornbread, or as a party appetizer with toothpicks.

Notes

  • Using frozen sliced sausage? Add 10 minutes to the bake time (50–55 minutes total).
  • For scaling: use ½ to ⅔ cup of BBQ sauce per pound of sausage.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze in a heavy-duty freezer bag for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge.
  • To reheat: place in a baking dish, cover with foil, and warm in a 350°F oven for 10–15 minutes.
