Unwrapping a hot campfire peachie from foil to reveal melted marshmallow and caramelized peach inside

Campfire Peachies

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 3 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe peach (firm-ripe, not mushy)
  • 1 large marshmallow
  • Ground cinnamon, to taste
  • Brown sugar, to taste (optional)
  • 1 sheet of aluminum foil (large enough to wrap the whole peach)

Instructions

  • Build a campfire and allow it to develop hot embers.
  • Cut each peach in half and remove the pit. Leave the skin on.
  • Lay both peach halves cut-side up on a large sheet of aluminum foil.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon over both halves. Add brown sugar if desired.
  • Place one large marshmallow into the hollow of one peach half.
  • Press the two peach halves back together so the marshmallow is sandwiched inside.
  • Wrap the peach tightly in the foil, sealing all edges. Repeat for each peach.
  • Place wrapped peaches directly into the campfire. Cook for 3–4 minutes.
  • Remove carefully using tongs - the foil will be very hot.
  • Allow to cool for 30 seconds, then unwrap and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Use double-layered foil over very hot fires to prevent burning.
  • Do not overcook - 3 to 4 minutes is all you need for a perfectly soft peach.
  • These also cook beautifully on a gas or charcoal grill over medium-high heat.
  • Prepare foil packets ahead of time and store in a zip-top bag for easy campsite dessert.
  • Optional add-ins before wrapping: mini chocolate chips, a drizzle of honey, a small spoonful of Nutella, or a splash of bourbon (adults only).
