Passion Fruit Iced Tea

Homemade Passion Fruit Iced Tea is a tropical, refreshing summer drink made with just four simple ingredients. Bright, fruity, and gorgeous in a glass - this is the drink recipe your party table needs.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 black tea bags
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 fresh passion fruits (see note below for substitution)

Instructions
 

  • Bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Place the 3 tea bags into the boiling water and steep for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags.
  • While the tea is still hot, add the 1/4 cup of granulated sugar and stir until it is completely dissolved.
  • Slice the 6 passion fruits in half. Using a spoon, scoop the pulp and seeds from all 6 halves directly into the warm sweetened tea. Stir gently to combine.
  • Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the passion fruit tea over the ice. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

No fresh passion fruit? Use frozen passion fruit pulp or puree instead (Goya brand is widely available). Thaw it overnight in the refrigerator before using.
Make-ahead tip: Brew and sweeten the tea up to 24 hours ahead of time. Store it in a covered pitcher in the refrigerator. Add the passion fruit pulp right before serving to keep it fresh and vibrant.
Sweetener options: You can substitute granulated sugar with simple syrup, honey, agave, or flavored syrups like vanilla. Adjust the amount to your taste.
Optional garnishes: Fresh mint leaves, a squeeze of lemon or lime juice, and a halved passion fruit on the rim of the glass all make beautiful, delicious additions.
To scale up: This recipe multiplies easily. Double or triple all ingredients to make a larger batch for a party. Store in a pitcher in the refrigerator and add passion fruit right before serving.
